Kinetic: Social Defiers
Hello little grasshoppers! on today’s talented tales we have two lovely guests! Rosan and Yosef founders of KINETIC! <3
Rosan and Yosef (siblings) have been working on Kinetic since 2020, they started this project completely from scratch and without any help. They were 19 years old (Rosan) and 15 years old (Yosef)when they started Kinetic a few years ago. The brand was finally released early 2023.
Kinetic is a streetwear clothing brand which designs are all about breaking social barriers and expectations.
Both siblings are originally from Venezuela and moved to the US at the age of 16 ( Rosan ) and 12 ( Yosef ).
Before Kinetic Rosan studied to be a music producer, “I’ve always wanted to pursue music and it stills in the books for me,I plan on doing kinetic and that at the same time so you could say I’m a very creative person, since I was little I liked fashion, photography, drawing and stuff like that. I always say that if I didn’t do music I probably would have gone for graphic design or something of that sort. Kinetic lets me able to do everything at once which is pretty cool, some beats and sounds in our posts that we have put out there were done by me.”
On the other hand Yosef was on the sports realm, he was a basketball player, “I always liked competing and proving people wrong and my sister has always had the passion to pursue music. I also always had my creative side but it was low-key hidden until Kinetic started and that’s when I realized that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”
Both siblings have shared that they have been in the business side of things ever since they were kids, making them have more knowledge at the moment they decided to create the brand and during the process of it, “We know a lot more than normally people would know at our age which gives us advantages on trying to succeed in a different industry that also works similar in ways to the one we were always involved with” — Rosan

Q&A
What’s the story behind your designs?
A/ “The bears started as a concept that people could relate to, we wanted to make something that wasn’t just a brand, the color of the bears change every drop to show that a new collection is coming. The blindfold’s meaning also change in every drop, on our social dilemma collection for example it shows how people are blinded by money, politics and society and is inspired on how we believe that society should step up and break the status quo. The quotes in this collection came from a lot of research and understanding of who we wanted to wear these hoodies, thats why we have been calling the people that follow us “social defiers” for this collection specifically, some of this quotes came from latin phrases.”
What inspires you?
A/ “We take inspiration from life, things we like and society, etc…, our family and goals are also a big part of it.”
What have been some struggles you needed to face ?
A/ “Some of the struggles that we have faced is just the fact that we have to keep going. As most of you know life isn’t easy and there is always going to be a 1,000 different obstacles along the way but as hard as it may seem we have to keep fighting for what we want, nothing happens overnight and most things also always happen for a reason.”
What has been your latest obstacle?
A/ “Our latest obstacle has been to just be the best in everything we do. We are a little of a perfectionist and just want to eventually have one of the best, dopest brands in the space.”
What has been your biggest motivation?
A/”Our biggest motivation has been our family and ourselves. There is only one destination when you start something like this and its to succeed in it.”
What distinguish you from other artist in your genre?
A/ “What distinguish us is that we don’t seek whats normal or expected, we love to break the rules of what people think it’s okay or are accustomed to .”
What was the hardest part about starting Kinetic?
A/”The hardest part about starting was to find the economic power to start as we mentioned earlier nothing was given to us so we have fought in every sense for what we wanted to create.”
Who would you like to collaborate with?
A/ “For now we don’t have any brands that we would like to collaborate with since it’s not something in the books for now, but there is a lot of cool brands out there, maybe in the future we will have a dream brand we want to collaborate with.”
TIPSY TIPS
Here are some helpful tips these silly siblings have for anyone that needs it! :p
What advice would you give someone who is just starting?
A/ Yosef: “An advice I will give to someone that is starting is to never ever have a plan B, if you believe in yourself you shouldn’t have a plan B if you do have a plan B , it must be to keep going with plan A.”
Rosan: “To believe in yourself and in what you want to do. You have to actually believe that whatever it is you want is going to happen if not it’s never going to. If for some reason you had an idea its because you were meant to have it. I don’t believe in coincidences, everything happens for a reason and most things are connected.”
What do you do when you lack inspiration and/ or motivation?
A/ Yosef:”I sit around and start researching and getting into a rabbit hole that keeps my mind moving.”
Rosan: “I usually go for a drive or I research to get inspired. I always write things down or save a picture of something I saw that I know could inspires me later on.”
What is the best advice you have been given so far?
A/ Yosef: “Best advice someone has given me that has stuck with me has been this quote from Abraham Lincoln. “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the ax.”
Rosan: “Out of the top of my head many things throughout my life has made me the way I am but a pretty good advice I was given could probably be that from everything good or bad, you can always control how you respond even if you can control the outcome and you can always take something from it.”
What resources could you share for someone who is also starting?
A/ Yosef: “Use GOOGLE everything is out there you just need to have the guts to follow your dream.”
Rosan: “Yes, use Google and risk it nothing good ever comes from staying in your comfort zone. Is better to risk it all than to never know what could have been.”
Besides working on your brand you also work full time, how do you manage your time to balance both things effectively?
A/ “We both are pretty good with time management and are very responsable thankfully. Some days are harder than others but if we don’t do it no one will so we have to find the balance even if it means working overtime.”
What is your go to app to design?
A/ “We use adobe apps, mainly adobe illustrator and a lot of pencil and paper.”
What are some mistakes you wish you could have avoided?
A/ “We honestly believe in that there is no mistakes, mistakes teach you how to become better so personally we wouldn’t have avoided a thing.”
How do you handle disagreements with your partner?
A/ “We both try to find a middle, we both do the designs and combine them and change stuff or give feedback into each others ideas.”
What is your go to piece?
A/ Yosef: “My go to piece would have to be dynasty storm hoodie”
Rosan: “Mine the batibati hoodie.”
