The Fall & Comeback of Betsey Johnson

Betsey Johnson was one of the IT designers throughout the 80s, 90s and 00s, every single IT girl of the time rocked betsey's designs, Paris Hilton, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale, Dakota Fanning, Lauren Conrad, Rihanna, etc... Her designs surrounding the chic punkglam, fun girly, aesthetic (myfav!).

Also a little fun fact / tbt, during one of Betsey's runway show its were Adriana Lima had her infamous most iconic moment where she took her top off.

Other models such as Naomi Campbell and even Devon Aoki walked for Betsey

Sadly after the economic crisis of 2008 she went bankrupt, the debt of $40 million dollars was paid off by Steve Madden. She then stopped owning the brand but was still the creative director for it. Slowly her collections became more rare to see and people started to forget about the brand.

We are now seeing more of that same chic punkglam aesthetic slowly making a comeback and so are her designs, her pieces now being worn by girls such as Bella Hadid, Addison Rae, Madison Beer and Olivia Rodrigo.

Also, another of Betsey iconic moments was when in the runway show for the spring 2001 collection she brought actual playmates for playboy to walk the playboy inspired pieces

She's def one of my fav designers so hopefully she claims her hype again for her talented mastermind so we can see more of it soon, the brand still SLAYS, you can find many cutesy stuff in their website.
